What is Organic Coffee?

Today many agricultural products are grown using organic methods and coffee is no exception. Organic products have a very minimal effect on the environment because there is no use of insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers. All organic produces are certified to ensure that their products are grown in such a way. Expensive and very technical labs must conduct very thorough tests on the gourmet coffee to ensure the product is organic. The tests will be used to screen for various chemicals and additives.

All organic coffee must be certified by the US department of agriculture and has a label on it but the FDA only reads the provided tests

You are what you eat. Quite literally, you are. As an example, amino acids absorbed because of eating meat can be utilized by our bodies in repairing muscles. So be cautious with the meals you eat as it could really create a difference. Understanding of how our diet effects our fitness as well as the nutrition we need has led to more people eating superfoods. But what exactly are superfoods? Well, there are a couple of kinds of foods, the great and the poor. Bad foods have empty calories that can just make you fat if eaten in excess and good foods which have calories that will provide plenty of energy as well as antioxidants to help reduce health issues and disease. Superfoods, as you will have guessed, come under good foods.

Your body needs a minimum quantity of nutrients daily, if not you’ll end up underfed. Carbohydrates provide energy for your system, protein is important for the health of your body’s cells and a specific amount of fats is required. In addition, another essential factor in all of this is water to consume. There are other nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals which you’ll need but are harder to get into your diet. There are two types of cholesterol, good and bad, and the fatty acid Omega-3 can counter the effects from the bad one. Superfoods are rich in many of these nutrients and one such food is salmon because of its protein content with the fatty acid, Omega-3. As we go into our later years, the functioning of the mind can suffer and Omega-3 can be effective for this. You can locate Omega-3 in several fish, nuts and seeds, most of which can be classed as superfoods.

Your immune system may even benefit from the properties of superfoods. Garlic is often a well known superfood that may give your immune system a genuine boost, which will help your system chase away health problems. One benefit of consuming garlic could possibly be in the way it helps to reduce your cholesterol. One caution with garlic is that when you suffer with your tummy at all, it may not be advisable to eat it. As commented on above, water is quite essential for your body (after all, the majority of your body is made from water) however now and then it may be easier said than done to drink large volumes of water, which can be why you may want to try drinking Green tea. Rich in antioxidants, green tea is considered a beneficial drink since it carries polyphenols. One added area where green tea seems to have a benefit is in helping to stop the development of tumors.

Some other high-quality superfoods to devour are tomatoes as they include something known as Lycopene which is a wonderful antioxidant. An additional superfood is spinach which is rich in iron along with one of the B vitamins known as folate. Lutein, a nutrient within spinach is essential for visual strength as we grow older.

Superfoods are certainly worth eating as they provide you with a lot of nutrients and health boosting vitamins that you could be otherwise not take in through your usual diet.

The World’s 5 Top Superfoods

Contrary to many dieting fables, feeling and looking good has less to do with the quantity you eat and more to do with the quality of what you eat. Beyond fewer pounds and greater energy, studies have unveiled that the consumption of certain foods and avoidance of others can significantly reduce the risk of numerous conditions and diseases including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cataracts and blindness. Food is arguably the most important field in non-drug medicine, with science increasingly turning to nature in its quest for solutions to the growing health crisis. Figures show that 95 per cent of people die from heart disease, cancer or diabetes – these top three killers all being diet related. In fact, eight out of the top 10 causes of death in the US have dietary correlations.

With the consensus diet trends of the West today, fast life-styles, processed foods and soil depletion, many people aren’t getting the nutrition they require for optimum or even adequate health.

Superfoods, packed with a rich and varied supply of nutrients and phytochemicals, are the heroic dynamos that serve as valuable expedients on our journey to healthier living.

These kings and queens reign by virtue of their outstanding compositions and offer a cornucopia of gifts to the body and its functioning. Superfoods are the most health-promoting, anti-aging, disease-fighting, mood-enhancing, beautifying, nutrient-dense, antioxidant-rich foods on the planet; the pièce de résistance of the plant kingdom with astonishing benefits.

The worlds 5 top superfoods:

Aloe Vera

The inner gel of the aloe vera leaf contains around 200 active compounds with over 75 nutrients. These include 20 minerals, 18 amino acids and 12 vitamins (even vitamin B12 – one of the very few plant sources of this vitamin). Aloe vera has anti-microbial properties fighting fungi and bacteria and contains anti-inflammatory plant steroids and enzymes. Aloe vera also aids digestion and elimination, boosts the immune system, and is incredibly healing and beautifying for the skin, stimulating collagen production and moisturizing.

Goji Berries

Goji berries contain 500 times more vitamin C than oranges and more beta-carotene than carrots as well as 21 minerals, 18 amino acids, B vitamins (B1, B2 and B6) and vitamin E, efficacious polysaccarides that excel at boosting the immune system and other complex compounds that work their bio-magic in the body. Goji berries are said to deter aging (eaten daily by the most well documented case of longevity, Li Qing Yuen, who reportedly lived to the age of 252!), boost your libido, lower cholesterol and improve vision. They also show anti-cancer potential due to their content of germanium, a trace mineral known to induce the production of the powerful anti-cancer agent interferon.

Chocolate (Cacao)

Pure chocolate contains over 300 compounds including psychoactives such as PEA (phenylethylamine) the ‘love chemical’ that releases dopamine in the pleasure-centres of the brain and is said to induce feelings of excitement, attraction, and euphoria, and the feel-good cannabinoid anandamide that mimics the effects of marijuana and has recently been attributed to the ‘runner’s high’ experienced by athletes. Tryptophan is also known for its mood-enhancing traits and increases levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. Chocolate is an aphrodisiac king, these chemicals no doubt contributing to such efficacy, and contains ‘nature’s special medicine’ arginine that enhances arousal and sensation in men and women. Chocolate is also the highest antioxidant food on the planet, exceeding blueberries, grapes and green tea, is exceptionally high in magnesium (great for the heart and nervous system) and contains the beautifying mineral sulphur. No wonder it has been called ‘the food of the gods’! Note that these properties are highest in raw cacao (pure and unrefined) which is leagues apart from commercial chocolate products, containing none of the detriments such as sugar, hydrogenated fats, milk, additives, agro-chemicals and solvents.

Chlorella (and Spirulina)

Water grown algae such as chlorella and spirulina have phenomenal nutritional value. Chlorella is 60% protein (19 amino acids including all eight essentials), contains all the B vitamins (including B12 – a rare plant source), vitamins C and E, a wealth of minerals and trace minerals, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and chlorophyll (the highest quantities of these ever found in a natural source), as well as essential fatty acids and a host of phytochemicals. Chlorella is exceptionally good at detoxifying the body of pollutants such as heavy metals, pesticides and PCB’s. It also contains age-defying nucleic acids, is immune and blood boosting and shown to be an effective aid aside cancer treatments. Chlorella is the most popular supplement in Japan, classified by the government as a ‘functional food’ and taken daily by over 7 million users. Aside a few differing benefits, chlorella and spirulina have many parallel virtues. As a note, grasses such as wheat and barley grass are also potent detoxifiers, bursting with life and high in enzymes, chlorophyll, antioxidants and amino acids.

Bee Pollen

Called the ‘perfect food’, bee pollen has an awesome constitution. Around 40% protein of a highly digestible form, these magical grains house 16 vitamins, 28 minerals, a host of enzymes, hormone precursors (that stimulate hormone production), lecithin, fatty acids, nucleic acids and antioxidant phytonutrients as well as yet identified constituents. Studies have revealed antibiotic and cholesterol lowering abilities, immune system enhancement and excellent skin healing traits. Pollen is also believed to be an anti aging food, discovered by Dr. Tsitsin, chief biologist at the Longevity Institute in Vladivostak, to be eaten daily by over 200 natives of Georgia (formerly the Soviet Union) that were living upwards of 125 years of age! Try to get fresh or unheated pollen to reap the benefits of all the enzymes and healthy constituents. Other bee products such as honey and propolis are also potent healing foods.

Vegetarian Pyramid

If you are thinking about becoming a vegetarian, you might be surprised to know that there is a food pyramid that you can use as a guide just like the food pyramid that is recommended by health professionals for people who do eat meat. The vegetarian pyramid contains recommendations for dairy since vegetarians, unlike vegans, do eat dairy, so if you are wanting to be a vegan, you need to take that into consideration!

At the bottom of the vegetarian pyramid are the basics of a good vegetarian lifestyle. These are foods that you can eat liberally – as many as six to eleven servings per day. The base of the vegetarian pyramid includes whole grain bread, pasta, rice, and cereal.

The second part of the vegetarian pyramid includes foods that can be eaten generously. There are two parts to the second step of the vegetarian pyramid – the vegetable and fruit group. You can have three to five servings a day of this food group and they are good for you as well as good tasting. This part of the vegetarian pyramid includes all types of fruits and vegetables. Keep in mind that fruit contains a large amount of water so you will want to take it a little easy on the fruit so that you don’t retain too much water.

Then we take a step up the vegetarian pyramid to the level just below the top. Again, there are two sections to this part of the pyramid and they should be eaten in moderation. That means two to three servings per day. The first part of this step in the vegetarian pyramid is the low-fat and/or no-fat milk, yogurt, fresh cheese, and fortified alternatives such as soy milk and fortified yogurt products. The second part of this step is the meat alternative part of the vegetarian lifestyle which contains your proteins. That means beans, nuts, and seeds.

The final part of the vegetarian pyramid is the one where you want to consume sparingly. That’s because even though these ingredients are necessary, if you eat too much of them, it can be detrimental to your health if you eat too much. The top part of the vegetarian pyramid includes vegetable fats, oils, sweets, and salts.

Just like knowing the part of a “regular” pyramid, knowing the steps of the vegetarian pyramid can be very helpful when you are planning out your vegetarian meals. You need to be sure that you are getting the right amount of servings of foods that will help keep you healthy and keep your body working at its maximum potential – all without meat!

And remember to include a teaspoon a day of certified organic probiotic superfood to keep you healthy on the inside too.

Why Superfoods Are Healthy Foods?

Several experts begin to lecture on living a healthy lifestyle and eating a healthy diet. With the myriad of selections available, which ones are sure to provide the health benefits? Which ones are the healthy foods? Thus, the superfoods come into the picture.

Researches claim that they do provide a myriad of health benefits. They are also low in calories so taking them will purely bring forth the advantages to the health.

Reasons to Take the Superfoods

Raw superfoods make the body strong enough to ward off diseases.

Poor diet weakens the body condition while superfoods strengthen the immune system.

One doesnt easily recognize the negative effects of an unhealthy diet. It is only when the severe symptoms come out when people get to notice their unhealthy eating habits. Raw food diet reverses these negative effects. Due to the fast-paced lifestyle that every person has these days, it is common for them to grab processed foods as they are easy to prepare. What they dont know is that their additives deprive the body of the required nutrients. Thus, the body lacks the energy to perform its tasks well. One should always make sure that some type of superfood snack is always available.
