Finland is among the world leaders in research and development of dairy products. Lactic acid bacteria LGG found in some Norwegian dairy products are developed there.

LGG bacteria:

LGG represents Lactobacillus GG. This probiotic lactic acid bacterium was discovered by two American scientists named GoldBach and Goldin. The letter L in the acronym stands for Lactobacillus and the two G’ene represents the first letter of surname for both researchers. This is a lactic acid bacterium found naturally in our intestines. LGG has an important task of keeping a good and harmonious balance in our body.

In more than 15 years, there has been research in this area, and LGG is the world’s most documented probiotic bacterial strain.

LGG bacteria have many effects in the body:

There have been numerous studies on both animals and humans when it comes to potential health effects of probiotic bacteria, particularly LGG. It has now a good basis to assume that some selected probiotic lactic acid bacteria:

• Establish a beneficial bacterial flora in the gut• Shortens the duration of rotavirus diarrhea in children, as well as other easier digestive disorders• Normalizes the intestinal flora using antibiotics and reduce the risk of diarrhea caused by antibiotics• Affects immune system in the gut• Breaks down milk sugar (lactose) so that the product is tolerated to a greater degree by persons with lactose intolerance• Reduces the concentration of probable cancer-causing substances in the stool

There are also other effects of a high intake of probiotic lactic acid bacteria that are increasingly documented.

Need daily refill:

Despite the probiotic survive in the gastrointestinal tract and “settle” in the intestine, they establish themselves not there for good. No refills will disappear after one to two weeks. If you want to have a stable amount of these lactic acid bacteria in the intestinal flora is recommended that a daily serving of dairy products containing LGG.

Precautions:

Based on a “precautionary” principle recommends the Scientific Committee for Food Safety that products containing LGG should be used in children younger than three years. The reason for this is a concern about the possible long-term effects on the intestinal flora. Children’s intestinal flora is not fully established until the 2-years old. Older children and adults can use LGG products in free volumes, but it achieved no additional effect on the intestinal flora by use beyond one serving daily.
